Five Questions with Deborah
Campbell, House of Lashes
8/27/18 By Diva Bole, Associate, PK Law
Q. Please describe your path into this industry.
A.More than 10 years ago, my life was in complete turmoil as I was navigating an extremely painful divorce with three small children in tow and faced a new beginning. It was a scary and unpredictable time for me and my overall confidence sunk to an incredible low. In an attempt to cheer me up, a co-worker suggested that I get lash extensions and, at that point, I was ready to try almost anything to improve my mood and outlook. Not only did they simplify my life and buy me more time every morning, but the eye lashes completely transformed my attitude. I immediately knew that this was my life’s calling and that I needed to help other women.
Q. Describe the services available at House of Lashes.
A.We are a full-service lash bar that provides every type of extension that you can imagine, with most women gravitating to the semi-permanent style because they last nearly six weeks. After the first treatment, touchups are needed to restore the lashes to the maximum volume and original look. Women who receive this service can wake up every morning and not worry about putting on eye make-up. It has been proven that eye lash extensions provide a discernable boost in a women’s appearance and significantly improve a women’s confidence.
Q. What separates House of Lashes from the competition?
A. For starters, I understand the amazing power of eye lash extensions and am able to passionately communicate this to my customers – many of which have become good friends. I see powerful businesswomen and stay-at-home moms. They both want the same thing – to feel better about themselves, reduce maintenance time and receive a comfortable product. The compliment I receive most is “thank you for that nap.” The treatment is completely pain-free and my customers relax completely during the process and many fall asleep.
Q. Eyes are the window to your soul, correct?
A.The two things that people immediately look at on a person’s face are their eyes and mouth, and eyes with make-up create contrast to your overall features. Eyelashes are also sign of overall health and they can completely transform a face. And guess what? We also have men customers.
Q. What do you enjoy about your business most?
A. In my estimation, the use of eyelash extensions reduces your age appearance by approximately ten years, by revitalizing eyes and making them pop. My customers receive constant compliments about their eyes but, more importantly, they instill confidence and self-assurance.And, it makes them happy. As part of my mission to pay things forward, we also mentor and educate young people looking to break into the business as artists. This business has been great to me and I want to help others.
